The Significance of Our 250th Anniversary
The 250th anniversary of Irish America is a momentous occasion that celebrates the enduring contributions of Irish immigrants and their descendants to the fabric of American society. This milestone is not only a reflection of our past achievements but also a testament to the enduring spirit of the Irish community. We honor the values of freedom, perseverance, and unity that have guided us through the ages.
Upcoming Anniversary Events

Irish America 250 Kick Off
The first event, co-hosted by Irish Chamber members Villanova University’s Center for Irish Studies, is a tribute to Stephen Moylan, the Society’s first president, former aide-de-camp to General George Washington and the first person according to historians to use the phrase ” The United States of America” in a letter Washington’s private secretary Joseph Reed dated January 2 1776. Born in Cork, Moylan would got on to serve numerous roles during the Revolution including 2nd Quartermaster General, Commander of the Fourth Continental Light Dragoons, and Commander of the Cavalry of the Continental Army.
